feel held in postpartum…

A guide to a healing, nourishing and joyful fourth trimester

it is time to reframe postpartum care

We are told that postpartum is exhausting, lonely, and full of struggle. What if it could be nourishing, supported, and deeply transformative?

Postpartum should not be something to survive. It is a rite of passage that shapes your health, vitality, and sense of self for decades to come. In the Ayurvedic tradition, the first 40 days after birth are said to influence your health for the next 40 years. That’s how powerful this time is.

Contrary to what we often see, depletion, anxiety, and pelvic pain are not inevitable. They are largely symptoms of a culture that offers little guidance, care, or support to new mothers. Too many are left on their own, waiting six weeks for a check-in, when what they truly need is daily care, nourishment, and community.

With the right support, postpartum can feel completely different. Your body can fully heal. You can experience more energy, more joy, and a deeper connection to your baby. You can emerge empowered and feel held by your support system.

To move through postpartum feeling supported, connected, and empowered, you need tools, practices, and care that honor your body and spirit. When you step into this time with intention, you can emerge not depleted, but radiant—rooted in your wholeness and ready for the next chapter of your journey.

Innate Postpartum Class - Planning for the Fourth Trimester
The Innate Postpartum Class

In this postpartum class…

In this class you will learn through lecture, meditation, and heartfelt connection with other expecting parents. Stephanie will gently guide you in discovering your postpartum needs, how to honor them, and how thoughtful care can protect you from the challenges that are often assumed to be “normal” after birth. Together we will craft a postpartum plan—so that by the time your baby arrives, you already have the support and structure you need. There will also be a ceremony when everyone in the class is more than 6 weeks postpartum, to honor your transition and complete the rite of passage. This is an opportunity to step into the postpartum season with a real village, wisdom, and a sense of being deeply held.

  • Connection with other expecting parents (birthing person & support partner)
  • Interactive in person lectures to teach you the traditional practices and modern science that support postpartum healing
  • Create your realistic postpartum plan in a supportive community with guidance
  • Guided meditations to connect with your yourself and your intuition
  • Homework, self study, journaling exercises and additional reading material
  • Individual support in a small group
  • A postpartum ceremony in your small group cohort to honor your transition and complete your rite of passage

Stephanie Toby, MPP RYT 200

Stephanie is a mother, community weaver, and certified Innate Postpartum Care Provider devoted to restoring postpartum as a deeply supported rite of passage. Her calling began after the birth of her first child, sparking a search that led her to the work of Rachelle Seliga and the Innate Traditions training. She now guides mothers through this sacred season with care, community, and a vision of cultural change—where mothers are honored, babies nourished, and families thrive.

Beyond her postpartum work, Stephanie homeschools her children, makes music, and enjoys the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Previously, she directed Street Yoga, bringing trauma-informed yoga to youth, and worked as a federal policy analyst. She now integrates holistic healing with systemic understanding, creating spaces where women feel seen, supported, and whole.

    • “When I met with Stephanie I felt comfortable, held and heard.  Things were so much harder with my second baby, and she gave me suggestions to help me during my postpartum recovery time that were personalized, valuable, and practical. She really understood how hard the postpartum time can be, and truly cared about helping me find ways to nurture myself so I could heal.”

    • “On a scale of 1-10, this class was an 11 – it exceeded my expectations. I loved dropping in at the beginning of class and the intuitive channeling for brainstorms. I wish I had known enough to take it sooner in pregnancy! But I’m happy to have been here now. I loved it! Thank you Stephanie.”

    • “This class was very helpful. It changed my mindset for good. My favorite part of the class was getting to know more about the needs of my partner.”

    Frequently Asked Questions

No. This class is for anyone who wants to set themselves up for health in postpartum and beyond. The information is based on a traditional-midwifery model of care (as well as modern science), so does require you to be open to learning about that type of care.

No need to stress out before coming to class! You are never late for class. The doors will be open starting thirty minutes prior if you’d like to plan to come early and get settled in please do. Three knocks after class starts and we will come open the door for you.

Also, Life happens – you might need to miss a class. We get it. Please let us know sessions you can’t make it and we will Zoom you into class for the circle and lecture portion.

Yes! We strongly encourage you to bring a support person if at all possible. In postpartum, it is critical that others are caring for you, and this class is the perfect way for your support person/people to learn how to do that. Every registration fee covers the birthing parent and one support person. Additional support people can attend at a discounted rate, if space is available. This could be your partner, husband, wife, friend, mother, doula, etc.

Please bring a pen or pencil, something to drink and any food you will need during the class time. Note that this is a nut-free facility so please bring nut-free snacks only. Please dress comfortably. Please bring yoga bolsters, pillows or anything you may need to be comfortable. Willa has rental props available if needed.

While it is common to prepare for birth, the vast majority of people do not prepare for postpartum and there are few places where you can get the help you need to set yourself up in advance. At the same time, postpartum disorders – depression and anxiety, pelvic issues like incontinence and painful sex, digestive issues, and more – have become all-too-common. Investing in this class not only supports better health in your immediate postpartum, it shapes your health for decades to come. Traditional Chinese Medicine recognizes postpartum as one of the three golden opportunities (the others are when you begin menstruation and enter menopause) – if you are properly cared for, your health can actually improve! But without proper care, your health declines. We want to help set you up for health!

Our location is within Eastside Community School at Pine Lake Hall. The address is 5025 Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd SE Issaquah, WA 98029

Absolutely. We’ve had families join this class precisely because they want to have a better postpartum experience than they’ve had in the past. It’s been beautiful to see how much better their postpartum experiences are after they’ve taken this course and set themselves up for wellbeing and support.

It is time for you to feel held in your postpartum…

…so that the challenges feel lighter, recovery comes with more ease, and your body has the support it needs to return to strength and vitality. When you are held and nourished you create more space for joy in early motherhood.
